Our jewelry is made of 925 Sterling Silver. We plate our silver jewelry to prevent oxidization and give it a color shade. We use rhodium and black rhodium for white and black color. Rhodium is one of the costliest precious metals due to its rarity. We use a thick layer of 21-24k gold or 18k rose gold to plate silver jewelry, to give it extra durability and shine. Plated jewelry is highly resistant to erosion, and free of allergens.

Solid gold is a precious metal that will not oxidize or discolor. For rings and weddings we recommend 14k solid gold instead of 18k because it scratches less and doesn't bend or wear out as easily. 18k gold is a more luxurious choice with a greater pure gold presence.

Please note that each piece of olive wood is handcrafted from different pieces of olive wood, resulting in unique wood grain patterns with some variation in color and size! With that in mind, please note the jewelry received will differ from the picture on display! The olive wood used to create this piece is ethically sourced from the city of Sparta, located in the region of Laconia, in southern Greece. Sustainable olive wood comes from olive trees that no longer produce fruit and are continuously replaced.

Krokeatis lithos or lapis lacedaemonius is a deep green volcanic stone (a type of porphyry stone) with lighter green and yellow spots that create a mosaic-effect. The stone was exported across the Roman Empire via the ancient port of Sparta. Pieces of Krokeatis lithos were found at the acropolis in Mycenae, and it was also used to decorate the simple tomb of the three hundred Spartans at Thermopylae. Krokeatis lithos is very hard to work with and shape, but its beauty and uniqueness result in high quality products that are worth the effort.

Rosso Antico is the name given by the Greeks and the Romans to one of the most important colored marbles of antiquity, the red marble found near Cape Tainaron on the southernmost point of the Mani peninsula (southern Peloponnese). According to Strabo (a Greek geographer, philosopher, and historian) it was used for vases, statues, carvings, and various architectural and -decorative elements..

The white marble we use for KAKURU jewelry comes from Sykea, Municipality of Monemvasia, in Laconia and is distinguished by its characteristic yellow swirls and veins. White Marble has always been a cultural symbol of tradition and refined taste and it brings elegance to KAKURU jewelry.

Jasper is a natural, semi-precious gemstone of Chalcedony mineral. It is a healing gemstone and is primarily worn to gain physical strength, bring about emotional stability, support the immune system and enhance spiritual awareness.

The composition of natural slate is determined by the geology of the quarry; it can therefore, have a widely varying chemical and mineral composition. The mineral pyrite (or iron pyrite) is the most abundant sulphide mineral. Slate pyrite is recognizable by its distinctive metallic shine. Slate Pyrite, depending on the cut, can be totally black without chalcopyrite veins.
