Open House is one of the most important global institutions for the promotion of architecture. The idea began at London in 1992 and until today it has spread to many cities around the globe. The Open House project invites the public to explore and understand the value of architecture.
Every year for one weekend, private and public buildings open their gates to everyone for free and the city is transformed to a big museum, with its buildings and architecture being the exhibits.
The 10th OPEN HOUSE Athens took place in April 1-2, 2023, with many parallel events besides the main weekend. “Made in Athens” is one of the parallel events. This event takes place at various production areas of Athens, in order to highlight the creative community of the city, introducing us artists, designers and all kind of producers and creative minds in general. The creators & producers themselves show us the way they work, using modern and traditional methods.
It was with great pleasure that we accepted the invitation to be a part of Made in Athens once more. On Thursday March 30th, Ivan welcomed you at the KAKURU store and Elina gave you a tour of our workshop, sharing her insight on the creative process of jewelry making and the various materials used for the KAKURU jewelry. Special thanks to Alexandra Dalaka, the Open House Athens volunteer, for making sure everything runs smoothly!
